Parkvale Bank:
Community Banking Month April 2010
MONROEVILLE, PA, June 17, 2010—“Neighbors Helping Neighbors” was the theme of this year’s Pennsylvania Community Banker’s Community Banking week. In these hard economic times, we could think of no better way to help our neighbors than to take advantage of our 47 branches and Monroeville headquarters and to hold 48 separate food drives! To accomplish this, many of our branch employees enjoyed working with local grocers that would allow for displays asking customers to donate a non-perishable food item to their local food bank. Staff gathered in front of their favorite supermarkets to talk to patrons, asking for donations to feed the hungry within the communities. Each branch chose a food pantry, shelter, church or other needy organization in their neighborhood to donate their non-perishable food items. In all, a whopping 3,760 pounds of food was collected… that’s over 4,050 grocery items that were donated throughout our region to help to feed hundreds. Talk about “Neighbors Helping Neighbors”!
Others orchestrated drawings for gift baskets, coloring contests for young children and many went that extra mile and organized various activities to provide free financial and health services to local customers.
Parkvale is proud of our employees’ generosity and spirit of volunteerism. Community banking highlights only a small portion of their good works; many other activities take place within our offices not just in April, but all year long. Look inside Parkvale… and find a bank whose employees are known for opening their hearts and helping others; whose friendly service and community outreach has set us apart from other banks for over 60 years.
