MONROEVILLE, PA, October 7, 2008—In recognition of Parkvale’s contributions to the communities it serves, the Bank recently received two prestigious awards from the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers (PACB). In the over $400 million asset category Parkvale was selected as a winner for both the “Best-of-the-Best” and the Community Service Awards. Presented to Parkvale President and CEO Robert J. McCarthy Jr. at the PACB’s annual convention, the awards showcase the high level of local involvement the staff and management of the Bank display toward the areas where they live and work.
“Parkvale Bank’s commitment to community involvement and to the principles of community banking is deserving of special recognition, and we are proud to honor your activities,” said Kristin Warner, PACB Communications Coordinator. The “Best-of-the-Best” Award was presented to select financial institutions that reached out to local citizens with helpful programs during Community Banking Week, April 7 through April 11. The Community Service Award lauded the efforts of Parkvale employees who engaged in various charitable acts and supported local organizations with their time and money.
The PACB based its decision to nominate the Bank as “Best-of-the-best” in its asset category thanks to efforts by branches all across Parkvale’s footprint of 48 offices serving parts of three states. Parkvale had some noteworthy activities performed throughout the Pittsburgh region; senior citizens were invited to Village Square, where a Parkvale Security Officer was available to discuss the prevention of identity theft and fraud. Retail took on a whole new meaning at the Oakland office, where gently used prom dresses were collected and distributed to local high school girls who could not afford them. And lastly, education was the objective at Murray Avenue, where a librarian was on site to encourage area residents to sign up for library cards.
Parkvale has a long tradition of supporting local charities with gifts of time and money. The Bank’s 48 branches and headquarters are broken down into seven regional teams, each making considerable contributions to their charitable organization of choice. The teams’ activities contributed to the Bank winning the PACB’s Community Service Award in the over $400 million asset category.
